Chittorgarh

Located in the southern part of Rajasthan, Chittorgarh was the capital of Mewar under the Rajputs. Chittorgarh evokes memories of great heroism and sacrifice by Rajput men and women in the intermittent battles that they had to fight against invaders from Northwest or Delhi. One of the major attractions in the city is Olympian fortress that stretches up to three miles in length and soars up to a whopping four hundred and ninety-five feet. The Vijaystambha, the Kirtistambha, Palace of Rana Kumbha, Palace of the famed Padmini, Jaimal palace and Patta palace are some of history laced tourist haunts attract the attention of the visitors from across the world.

Places to see

Chittorgarh Fort:

One of the largest forts in Asia, Chittorgarh Fort is one of the must see places in the city. The Fort of Chittorgarh is strategically located on the top of a high hilly outcrop of the Aravallis about 609 metres above sea level. It is located on a formidable, isolated rocky plateau rising steeply from the plain.

Vijaya Stambh

A giant nine storey which was initiated by Maharana Kumbha to commemorate his victory over the Muslim rulers, is another popular attraction in the city. The towers stands at a height of 37 meters and compromises of 9 floors offer a great view of the city of Chittorgarh and the Chittorgarh Fort.

Padmini's Palace:

The residence of Rani Padmini who was known for her gorgeous beauty, Padmini’s Palace is worth to explore. T he palace is a popular tourist attraction because of its rich architecture and association with the Rajput heritage and history.

Kirti Stambh

Formed in 12th century & dedicated to the first Jain teethankar Adinath, Kirti Stambh or the tower of fame is part of the two popular stumbhs or pillars inside the Chittorgarh Palace.

Shri Sanwariaji Temple

The Sanwaliaji temple of the Dark Krishna is situated on the Chittorgarh-Udaipur Highway, at the town of Mandaphia, about 40 kilometers from Chittorgarh.
Apart from, you can also visit to Bassi Wildlife Sanctuary, covers an area of 50 Sq km gives an opportunity to explore several animals like panthers, wild boars, antelopes, mongoose & enormous migratory birds.
